Just Keeping Up

I know, it's been forever.  As promised I have designed an angel

ornament using a traditional light bulb.  I'm calling her Lauren's

Angel.  She will be our new granddaughter's first ornament painted

by her grandma Susie.  She wasn't hard to do, with the exception

of her hair.  I think, however, she turned out nicely.  I've used J.W.

undercover on the bare bulb, after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol.

I've used acrylic paints and a wire ribbon for the wings to finish

her nicely.

I'm not teaching rouging at the moment.  I am teaching fun acrylics

on canvas at a new place in Lady Lake in the Kohl's plaza called

Painting with a Twist.  It's fun art not fine art.  Great for getting a

few of the friends together and bringing a bottle of wine to have

fun and paint.

This year in the garden I've grown more snowman gourds, but

added apple and bushel gourds to the mix.  They are still drying and aren't paintable at this point,

then again I still have gourds from last year needing painting.  There were so many last season,

I've given some away, I've painted some and still there are more!

For fun I also tried my hand at growing luffa, yes, they are grown on land not harvested from the sea.

At first I didn't think they would grow.  I only had a couple of tiny plants for the longest time, now...I

can't kill them.  OK, I could dig them up but I can't do that.  Just letting them grow till their done.  Wow,

the vines have just taken over and I have so many luffa.  Can't paint them but I'll be exfoliated for the

rest of my life.  Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas? :)

I should have information soon on Mary Owens' February seminar.  This is a

picture of one of last year's pieces. Mary's Seminar Page if you would like

to learn from the master.  She always offers new techniques and new patterns.

Carol will get me the info as soon as she has it.

Don't forget the new address for email is susan.larson126@yahoo.com the new

Huck and Thor are doing great and have a

new playmate.  Her name is Ella.  We adopted

her in late May from the Humane Society.  She

was so tiny and now she's holding her own with

the boys.  I've missed having a cat in the home.

We hadn't had a kitten in 20 years.  What a handful

she was.  Now she's a typical cat, struts around

like she owns the place.  We're in love and so are

the boys.
